Tolerance School breaks out again during the annual
Private Schools of Zamboanga City Athletic Unit (PSZCAU), otherwise known as
the PRISAA meet, which was launched last Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Claret
High School Gym in San Jose, this city.
The sports festival has been
initiated by a short parade, followed by a short opening program at the
gymnasium. Keynote speakers gave messages and speeches, and intermission
numbers have been conducted by different private schools, and several Palarong
Pambansa athletes lit up the Torch of Friendship to signal the start of the
games. Every school in attendance has raised their banners that day, and the
gymnasium was packed with lots of colors.
The place looked like a fairground
with all the decorations and buntings that day, and Tolerance School was
prepared to face the events that are set for them on that day.
Here were the events that our institution joined:
·Soccer
·Basketball
·Table Tennis
·Taekwondo
·Chess
In the afternoon, the first event
that opened up was in table tennis. Melchor Anni (Boys Singles A), Muhaimin Ali
(Boys Singles B), Ahmad Kalasahan and Al-Elija Ong (Boys Doubles), Sheenagadah
Kiram (Girls Singles)*, Ismahan Amil (Girls Singles)*, and Arwida Rajan and
Yasmeen Haji (Girls Doubles) fought to raise Tolerance’s flag that day.
Everyone brought home the bacon, save Muhaimin Ali, who lost in a close battle
with St. Joseph School.
Later in the afternoon, at 3 p.m.,
Tolerance’s basketball team fought against AB Simpson Alliance School, who lost
to our institution at an end-game score of 63-58.
The day has ended; however, the
players came back again the next day to fight for the titles, and also to
participate in the opening games of the chess event.
The second day of the meet,
September 25, Friday, has begun with table tennis matches, where only Melchor
Anni survived the toughness of his opponents, and as for the chess event, it
was a dark day for Tolerance School, for the chess players lost most of the
games by default, except for the girls’ first match, where Marybelle Pulis and
Iman Salih lost against their respective opponents.
However, Tolerance School made up
for that by winning a basketball match with Bethany, with an end-game score of
55-52. They will fight on for the next day’s match, and it is also the same for
the rest.
(POST SCRIPT: Tolerance School will
fight against ADZU at the Grandstand this Saturday at 8:00 A.M. Also, whoever
wins during the last match (i.e. Southern City Colleges [SCC] vs. ADZU) will be
the opponent of Tolerance Basketball team for tomorrow.)
